Nobutaka Machimura is a well-balanced policy maker. He started his career in the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) followed with twenty years of extensive experience as a member of the House of Representatives. Getting recognized for his political contribution, he also served as a cabinet minister twice during the Mori Administration.

Globally Focused

Nobutaka Machimura has gained his broad international exposure through his experience living abroad: first, as a student during college; second, as an expatriate of JETRO to New York; and most recently, as the state secretary for foreign affairs. He is an effective international negotiator, thanks to his strong command of the English language. His competence in English has been revealed at the United Nations general assembly, the Dabos World Economic Forum in Switzerland, and lectures delivered at the UC Berkeley campus.

From his father, the-late Kingo Machimura, Nobutaka Machimura has inherited his political principles: high standard of ethics and quality free from corruption. Machimura opposes and denies any interest-driven politics.

Leadership

In the past, Nobutaka Machimura has assumed the following responsibilities in LDP activities: Director-General Election Bureau, Acting Secretary General, and Chief Deputy Chairman of Diet Affairs. As a consequence, he has demonstrated initiatives in important activities and personnel affairs of the party.
